Virtual version of Gregory Colbert’s Nomadic Museum exhibition that toured the world in 2005. Initially developed in Unity as a desktop experience, it was subsequently ported to the Oculus Rift to provide full 360° immersion.
The application allowed the user to explore the 125,000 square foot art space as it had appeared in New York City, Tokyo, and Mexico City. The two main galleries featured the same large scale photographic prints as the original exhibition with the addition of several discoverable interactive elements activated by touching the prints. The large central gallery played Colbert’s film, Ashes and Snow on loop.
The primary function of the VR experience was as a presentation tool to sponsors and patrons to garner support for Colbert’s next iteration of the Nomadic Museum.
